Natural farming means limiting reclamation and interfering with the natural growth and development of plants.
There are 5 basic principles in natural farming:
- No tillage
Tillage is the agricultural preparation of soil by mechanical agitation of various types, such as digging, stirring, and overturning. But in natural farming, farmers will use gentle methods such as spreading straw, growing clover instead of using artificial chemicals and machines to conduct a battle to destroy land, the environment will return to the balance by its nature and even annoying weeds will be under control.
- No chemical fertilizers
The soil will maintain its fertility naturally, following the orderly cycle of plant and animal life without using chemical fertilizers. The remains of plants and animals are accumulated and decomposed on the soil surface by bacteria and fungi. With the movement of rainwater, nutrients are taken deep into the soil to become food for microorganisms, earthworms, and other small animals. The roots reach deeper into the soil and suck these nutrients back onto the surface.
- No weeding
While the rapid growth of weeds can affect farming efficiency, it also plays a role in soil fertility and establishes the balance of the biota. When adopting natural farming, weeds only need to be controlled, not necessarily eliminated.
- No pesticides or herbicides
The use of chemicals to prevent and control pests is obviously effective in the short term but may still lead to bigger problems in the future such as making the plants less resistant, producing other bacteria and depleting soil nutrients.
- No pruning
If we plant properly from the beginning, the plant will grow itself in such a way that it is balanced with light and do not collide with each other without pruning.
Natural farming is also the direction that Ta Lai AROME aims to. At the present, farmers still plant trees manually but need to comply with our planting standards, so as to minimize the chemicals that affect the environment, to create products with good quality, protecting consumers’ health, and also having a good impact on the environment, creating sustainable development values for businesses.
